TPU “Medvedkovo”

For many years, the station area around Medvedkovo metro was characterized by outdated infrastructure. The 2023 comprehensive public realm upgrade fundamentally transformed the site, and today the hub operates as an integrated urban transport node that balances transit, pedestrian flows, and the wider public realm.

The key change was a new street layout and a clearer functional zoning strategy. Sidewalks were widened, pedestrian accessibility was improved across the entire area, including for people with limited mobility, and traffic circulation was modernized. Bus shelters were replaced with contemporary structures with integrated lighting and wayfinding. Traffic signals were upgraded and new ones were installed, while outdated lighting poles were replaced with energy-efficient fixtures, improving both safety and nighttime spatial clarity.

Parking was reorganized and unauthorized vehicle access to green areas was eliminated. Instead of degraded lawn surfaces, hedges were introduced and new trees and shrubs were planted. In zones further from the transport core, benches, litter bins, children's and sports areas, and ecological planting beds were added.

TPU “Medvedkovo” no longer functions as a purely transfer-oriented node. It has become a fully-fledged public space that is comfortable both for transit users and for local residents.
